This is the only slab hut left of thirty four that dotted the AA Company's huge holding. Built in the 1840s, it was originally inhabited by a Company shepherd. The hut was used by the King family too and housed families in the 20th century.
restoration
The hut has required restoration and preservation over the years. The original shingle roof is still in place but is now protected by iron sheets. Local businesses and professionals have contributed to its preservation. It opened to the public in 1974.
